about Hoodwink

Hoodwink are trickster do-gooders, working at the very edges of curatorial practice. We target non-users of museums and art galleries and expose them to contemporary art in the most unlikely, surprising and exciting of places.

Our work creatively challenges current perceptions of exhibiting space and environment, and often deliberately subverts the traditions of curatorial practice in order to expose artists’ work to new audiences.

Hoodwink commissions artists to experiment with space. It extends art practice beyond display in galleries and public art arenas and places it in the middle of daily life, commissioning work for installation in currently-used spaces such as supermarkets, pubs, music venues and sports centres.

We support artists in developing their work, enabling a new dialogue between artist and viewer and we actively seek inventive systems and processes to establish a close and understanding connection between artist and audience.

Hoodwink are based in Kent and our programme of activity includes three new commissions per year and associated events and experiences.
